Q: What is Goji?
A: There are many varieties of the Goji plant (Lycium Barbarum) growing in different parts of the world. It has been claimed that there are over 40 species in Tibet alone. The Goji plant produces berries valued for there natural medicinal properties but each variety has its own distinctive appearance, color, taste and each may differ from the others in medicinal power depending on various growing variables such as the availability or lack of trace minerals in the soil, climate, precipitation and so on. Goji berries are sometimes called wolfberries but the wolfberry is actually a substandard Goji plant. They also have the high level of vitamins but their taste is more bitter then that of Goji.

Q: What is so extraordinary about Goji berries?
A: The Goji berry is perhaps the most nutritionally rich fruit on the planet. It contains an impressive amount of naturally occurring minerals, amino acids, polysaccharides, phytonutrients and anti-oxidant vitamins. Goji berries contain 18 kinds of amino acids (six times higher than bee pollen) and contain all 8 essential amino acids. They also contain up to 21 trace minerals and are the richest source of carotenoids, including beta-carotene of all known foods or plants on earth! They contain vitamins B1, B2, B6, and vitamin E as well as 500 times the amount of anti-oxidant vitamin C, by weight, than oranges making them one of the richest vitamin C sources on earth. Finally, it has also been shown that Goji berries contain several key polysaccharides that have the ability to potentially play an impressive role in boosting the immune system response of individuals.

Q: What is the Tibetan Goji Berry?
A: The Tibetan Goji berry is native to both Tibet and Mongolia and is prized as a premium Goji. Tibet accounts for less than 1% of Goji production in China due to the lack of growing area. The major growing area of Goji is Inner Mongolia. There are actually 5 provinces in China that grow Tibetan Goji Berries and more than likely, any Tibetan Goji berries sold commercially are from these major growing areas of China.
